Melanotan-1 (MT-1, Afamelanotide) — alpha-MSH analog research peptide. Selective MC1R-MC5R activity with no MC4R agonism.

Melanotan-1 (MT-1, also called Afamelanotide) is a 13-amino-acid research peptide analog of alpha-MSH. Unlike MT-2, it retains selectivity profile closer to native alpha-MSH.
MT-1 binds melanocortin receptors with affinity profile similar to alpha-MSH — primarily MC1R (pigmentation) with reduced MC4R activity compared to MT-2.
Used in: melanocortin receptor research, pigmentation pathway studies, comparative MSH analog research.
